AFter the TIE Plan

The students really liked working with voice thread. I had kindergarten and people were thinking really can kindergarten do this? Well this voice thread will prove you wrong. The students created their own identity and typed in their name. I had to show them on the flat screen of course how to follow the steps and actually go through the process. The students loved that they could hear themselves on the computer and thought it was interesting of what others were talking about. I had the students talk about the four stages of the life cycle and then say a sentence of something they learned throughout the lesson. Some students did need assistance where I talked with them through it but others flew by it. The students liked the transformation from talking about it to hearing it. I threw in an extension to my lesson which was the Magic School Bus movie while I observed the students going and completing the voice thread. On some you can hear the movie because it was a bit loud but the students understood the message behind it. After I completed the voice thread, I showed the students the final product. We heard every single person on our kindergarten voice thread and the students were amazed at their work. The students enjoyed working with voice thread and also my Clinical Teacher wanted to incorporate the voice thread into other lessons in the future which I thought was a bonus.

Pre Voice Thread

For my TIE lesson plan my kidergarten students will be learning about the life cycle of the butterfly. I was going to do my voice thread on the math idea but then my CT changed my lesson and asked if I can apply the voice thread with science. The students will be able to explore the life cycle of the butterfly and identify the four stages. i am thinking that the students can talk about the four different stages of the butterfly as dicuss in class. For my independent practice the students will be applying their different pasta noodles onto the butterfly system of the correct stage. I was thinking that the students can go up to the computer while working on their independent practice and talk about the four different stages and say a sentence about wehat they learned throughout the lesson. I would have a picture of the butterfly uploaded already on voice thread but the students would have to create their identity and possibly upload there pictures with it while I walk around the run. Another suggestion is to have an extenstion of my lesson and have the students watch the Magic School Bus: Butterfly and Bog Beast while I help guide the students with voice thread.

Google Docs

Google docs is a great website that students and teachers have access to for variety of things such as: power point, word documents, and can be viewed by everyone in the classroom if the link is shared. This is a great way for students to gain new information with technology and have them explore different methods to present. I also like the idea that students can comment to each other for peer support and if they have any suggestions then the other student will advise it.

Voice Thread

The students/ teachers can save the images and also movies into this system. Collaborative experience by posting the pictures and having the students comment on their status. I think that is it awesome that you can add voice when solving an addition problem. This will help students understand math addition through their peers. The students will question and analyze what they want to share with the classroom. There is a variety of examples that I think is good because not one person learns through one specific way. Students have an equal opportunity to post something up on voice thread and can share to the classroom as a closure.
